Bowling Concludes NEC#3 On Sunday Afternoon

Bethlehem, PA –  The Wagner College bowling team concluded Northeast Conference (NEC) #3 on Sunday. The Seahawks went 1-3 on the final day of the competition. 
 
Coach's Corner - Head Coach Joseph Ambrose:
Opening Statement: 

"Despite the results, I am very proud of how our team competed this weekend. We picked up victories over nationally-ranked Mount St. Mary's and Duquesne took a perennial NCAA qualifier in Fairleigh Dickinson to the limit. In just 13 months of existence, we have made tremendous progress and will continue to improve and grow as a team." 

 
Baker Pinfall #4 - Wagner 863, LIU 925
  • The Seahawks went up by 20 pins to start their match against the Sharks. 
  • LIU rallied back in the match, outshooting the Seahawks 188-161 in the second game to take a seven-pin advantage. 
  • The Sharks continued to hit at a 190-pace, as they went ahead by 66 pins heading into the final game. 
  • Wagner was able to break the 190 threshold in the final game (192) but dropped the match by 62 pins.
 
Baker Pinfall #5 - Wagner 944, Fairleigh Dickinson 957
  • The first of two back and fourth match as the Seahawks squared off against the Knights. 
  • Wagner got off to a 34-pin advantage before both teams fired identical scores of 203 in the second game. 
  • FDU went ahead in the match after firing a 191 in the third game, as the Knights now led by just eight pins. 
  • They would add to their lead after only outshooting the Seahawks by ten pins, as the lead jumped to 18. 
  • For the second time in the match, both teams shot identical 183 scores but it was the Knights who held on for the victory. 
 
Baker Pinfall #6 - Wagner 893, Mount St. Mary's 889
  • Wagner's lone victory of the day came against the No. 10 Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers. 
  • The Seahawks were two pins down after the first game by rallied back in the second game, firing off a 204 to Mount's 154, in taking a 48-pin lead. 
  • The Mount trimmed the deficit by five pins after a 155-150 third game went in their favor. 
  • The Seahawks quickly responded with a four-pin win (188-184) as Wagner went back up by 47. 
  • In the final game of the match, Mount St. Mary's rolled a 223 to Wagner's 180, but the Seahawks were able to do enough to hang on for the victory. 
 

Baker Pinfall #7 - Wagner 887, Sacred Heart 986
  • In the final conference match of the regular season, the Seahawks squared off against the Pioneers. 
  • Sacred Heart opened the game firing on all cylinders, rolling a 252 to lead by 85. 
  • The Pioneers made it an even 100-pin lead after outshooting the Seahawks 180-165. 
  • Wagner finished out the match with a 197, but couldn't overcome the earlier setback.
