Emmitsburg, MD – The Wagner College softball team dropped its opening doubleheader of Northeast Conference (NEC) play on Saturday, as the Seahawks fell 5-1 in game one before suffering a 5-4 extra inning setback in game two.

The Seahawks got on the board in the fifth inning, as an RBI double by senior

Mount St. Mary's scored two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the sixth inning to earn the victory.

Keaghan Ward all recorded hits for the Seahawks throughout the contest.

Eve Harvey suffered the loss, striking out three batters in six innings.

The Seahawks used a big sixth inning to take the lead in game two.
The first three batters in the inning reached base safely, as Miller and sophomore
Scarlett Lloyd recorded base hits.

Kate Wolf was hit by a pitch, bringing home the first hit of the game.

Nora Conway came through with an RBI triple, which cleared the bases and gave Wagner a 4-0 lead.
Mount St. Mary's tied the game in the bottom of the seventh and scored the winning run in the ninth inning to earn the sweep.
The Seahawks recorded seven hits in the contest, as Conway led the way with two hits in game two.
Lloyd was charged with the loss in the circle, striking out nine batters in 8.1 innings.
The Seahawks and Mountaineers will conclude their series tomorrow, with first pitch set for 12 pm.
