Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Siena On Wednesday Afternoon

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's lacrosse team fell to Siena, 15-8, on Wednesday afternoon at Hameline Field.

The Seahawks opened the scoring 1:47 into the contest when junior Megan Greco scored her first of three goals of the contest of a feed from graduate student Victoria Tucci. After the Saints leveled the score less than a minute later, Victoria Tucci got a goal of her own to give the Seahawks a 2-1 lead with 10:51 remaining in the opening quarter. Siena ended the quarter on a 2-0 run and took a 3-2 lead into the second quarter.

The Saints put a stamp on the contest in the second quarter when they outscored the Seahawks 5-1 behind fifth-year senior Nicole McNeely who tallied two goals in the frame. Graduate student Madeline Seims scored the lone goal for Wagner in the second quarter as Siena took an 8-3 lead into the intermission.

Victoria Tucci opened the scoring in the third quarter off a free-position and man-up opportunity for her second goal of the contest. Following the goal from Tucci, the Saints closed the third quarter on a 4-1 run as senior Kasey Dorney scored the other goal for Wagner.

While trailing 14-5 in the final stanza, the Seahawks launched a 3-0 run behind two goals from Megan Greco and one goal from freshman Katie Siverson. Greco's goals were assisted by Madeline Seims and senior Ally Turner while Siverson's goal was assisted by Victoria Tucci. The late comeback wasn't enough as the Seahawks fell to the Saints, 15-8.

Megan Greco tallied a hat trick on three shots to go along with two ground balls, one caused turnover, and one draw control. Victoria Tucci scored twice while dishing out two assists on six shots while tallying three ground balls. In her first career start in between the pipes, freshman Bryn Bockstie stopped six out of 13 shots faced.

Wagner will welcome Central Connecticut State to Hameline Field on Saturday, March 26 for the team's Northeast Conference (NEC) opener and the One Love game.
