Bowling Wins Three Matches On First Day Of Northeast Roundup; Coach Ambrose Reaches 900 Career Wins

New Castle, DE- The Wagner College women's bowling team went 3-2 on day one of the Third Annual Northeast Roundup, hosted by Wilmington University on Saturday afternoon.
 
It was a historic afternoon, as head coach Joseph Ambrose reached 900 career wins, as the milestone victory came against his former program, Kutztown University, in the final match of the day. 
 
Additionally, in just the program's second year of existence, the Seahawks rolled their highest traditional match score of 1,023, also against the Golden Bears in the final match.

Opening Statement: 
 
"We played hard and got better as the day progressed. On a personal note, it is humbling to know that I reached this milestone as I have been around the sport a long time, but, in the same breathe, having it come against a program that I was around was special. Our girls will look to close out the regular season with a strong performance tomorrow." 
 
Traditional Match #1 - Wagner 809 (100), Saint Francis U 809 (88)
  • In the first match of the weekend, the Seahawks were pitted against a familiar foe in Saint Francis U. 
  • Sophomore co-captain Totiana Miranda led the way with a 208 while Lauren Ruth Sarreal was next at 190.
  • Both squads were knotted at 809 before the Seahawks outrolled the Red Flash, 100-88, to claim the match. 
 
Traditional Match #2 - Wagner 889, Chestnut Hill 786
  • Wagner continued to find their stride against Chestnut Hill as America Carhart rolled the second 200 game of the day, finishing with a team-leading 231 while Kristina Colon was next at 193. 
  • Amanda Medvetz rolled a 168 to highlight the top-three finishes for the Green & White as Wagner moved to 2-0 on the afternoon. 
 
Traditional Match #3 - Wagner 848, Fairleigh Dickinson 955
  • The Seahawks were pitted against their second conference rival in the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights.
  • Sarreal paced the club with a 180 while Colon finished at 178 and Miranda at 177. 
 
Traditional Match #4 - Wagner 922, Felician 950
  • The Seahawks kept it close, thanks to a pair of 200 games by Colon and Miranda, who fired off a 240 and 213, respectively.
  • Carhart rolled a 192 to highlight the performances for the Seahawks in game four. 
 
Traditional Match #5 - Wagner 1,023 Kutztown 952
  • In the final match of the afternoon, Coach Ambrose had his squad against his former squad in Kutztown.
  • The Seahawks were firing on all cylinders as four bowlers bowled 200 games, led by Colon, who finished with a 226. 
  • Carhart finished with a 221 while Sarreal and Miranda rolled 205 and 201, respectively.
  • Kaitlyn Gonsalves played in the final game of the day and totaled a 170 as the Seahawks rolled a program-high for a traditional match, which gave Coach Ambrose his 900th career win. 
 
Wagner will close out their season tomorrow with two Baker matches, first against the host Wilmington and Mercyhurst before a Best of 7 positional Baker match.
