Men's Tennis Falls At Sacred Heart On Saturday

Trumbull, CT -  The Wagner College men's tennis team opened up the spring with a Northeast Conference (NEC) match against Sacred Heart at the Tennis Club of Trumbull on Saturday evening.

The Seahawks were defeated, 7-0, by the Pioneers. Wagner fell to 1-6; 0-1 NEC on the season while the Pioneers improve to 2-7 and 1-2 in league action. 

Wagner nearly secured the first point of the match as the tandem of Odeda Arazza and Rodrigo Perez dropped their No. 2 doubles match to Tyler Lowe and Matyas Vencl, 7-6 (7-5). 

At No. 3 doubles, Karan Venkatramana and Lucas Darling came within two points of forcing a tiebreaker, but fell 6-4. 

In singles action, Tejasvi Mehra battled Lefteri Apostolou at No. 2 singles and won the first set, 7-6 (4), before dropping the next two, 6-4; 6-3. 

Wagner is slated to play Fairfield on Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. at the Tennis Club of Trumbull.
