Women's Bowling Concludes First Day Of Competition At Hawk Flight Invite

Hamilton, NJ – The Wagner College women's bowling team concluded the first day of competition at the Hawk Flight Invitational, hosted by Monmouth University on Friday at Hamilton Lanes.
 
The Seahawks went 1-4 on the day. 
 
Baker Pinfall #1 - Wagner 726, Caldwell 993
  • Returning to the lanes after a nearly two-week break, the Seahawks were pitted against Caldwell to open the tournament. 
  • Wagner found themselves trailing 184-139 after the first game.
  • The Green & White kept it close in the second game, rolling a 168 while Caldwell upped its lead to 56 pins. 
  • The Cougars posted three straight games of at least 200 (214, 203, 213) to best the Seahawks. 
 
Baker Pinfall #2 - Wagner 879, Felician 838
  • Wagner bounced back in their second match of the day against Felician. 
  • Trailing by 25 pins after game one (180-155), the Seahawks bounced back in game two to fire a 191 and take a nine-pin advantage.
  • The Seahawks carried that momentum, rolling a 185 while Felician posted a 167 as the Wagner lead climbed to 27 (531-504). 
  • The Golden Falcons outshot the Seahawks, 175-157, in the fourth game to close the gap back to nine pins. 
  • The Green & White sealed the match after rolling a 191 while Felician managed to post a 159 as the Seahawks went on for the 41-pin win.
 
Baker Pinfall #3 - Wagner 949, Saint Francis U 973
  • The third match of the day featured a pair of Northeast Conference (NEC) foes in the Saint Francis U Red Flash. 
  • Wagner jumped out to a ten-pin advantage (183-173) after game one. 
  • The Red Flash rallied back in the second game, 196-173, to take a 13-pin lead. 
  • Both teams fired identical 199 scores in the third game, with SFU hanging on to that 13-pin advantage. 
  • Wagner outshot the Red Flash by four pins, 217-213, which trimmed the deficit down to just nine pins. 
  • In the final game, Saint Francis U rolled a 192 while Wagner concluded the match at 177 as SFU hung on to win by 24 pins. 
 
Baker Pinfall #4 - Wagner 811, Molloy 897
  • The Seahawks found themselves in an early deficit against Molloy.
  • Down ten after game one (165-155), the Lions rolled a 202 while the Seahawks finished at 177 after game two as Molloy claimed a 35-pin lead. 
  • Molloy went up by 75 after rolling a 186 in the third game while Wagner wrapped up the game at 146. 
  • The Seahawks fought back in the match, firing off a 195 in game four while the Lions were held to just a 162, as Wagner narrowed the gap to 42 (715-673)
  •  In the final game against the Lions, Molloy out-rolled Wagner 182-138 to preserve the win. 
 
Baker Pinfall #5 - Wagner 839, Adelphi 962
  • The final match of the first day featured the Seahawks against the Adelphi Panthers. 
  • The Panthers came out strong in the first game, rolling a 214 in claiming a 58-pin lead after the first game.
  • Wagner climbed back into the match, outshooting Adelphi, 191-171, to trim the deficit down to 38 pins. 
  • The Seahawks were two pins better than the Panthers in the third game to further cut the lead down to 36. 
  • In the fourth game, Adelphi rolled their second 200 game of the match, to increase the lead to 96 before closing out the match with a 184. 
 
The Seahawks will be back in action for the second day of the competition, where they will play five traditional matches against Monmouth, LIU, St. Francis Brooklyn, New Jersey City University, and Wilmington University.
