Greenville, NC – The Wagner College softball team dropped two games to Rutgers and East Carolina on Saturday at the ECU Pirate Clash, hosted by East Carolina University.
The Seahawks fell 5-0 to the Scarlet Knights in game one, before dropping a 9-1 decision to the Pirates in game two.

The Seahawks combined for six hits throughout the contest. Senior
Penelope Russ led Wagner offensively by going 3-3 at the plate, while fellow senior
Makenzie Miller had two hits throughout the contest.
Wagner loaded the bases in the second inning. Following a two-out single by Russ, freshman
Justine Carranza reached on an error. Next up, senior
Mackenzie Vogler drew a walk to load the bases, but the Seahawks were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
The Scarlet Knights scored one run in the first, one in the third, and three runs in the fifth to earn the victory.
Senior
Eve Harvey was charged with the loss after going the distance, striking out two batters in the process.

Wagner got off to a fast start in the second game of the afternoon, as sophomore
Scarlett Lloyd launched her first home run of the season in the first inning, giving the Seahawks a 1-0 advantage early on.
Seniors
Mackenzie Vogler and
Natalie Del Ponte also had hits for the Seahawks.
ECU scored five runs in the third to take the lead and added two runs apiece in the fourth and fifth inning to secure the win.
Lloyd also started the game in the circle, tossing 3.1 innings and striking out three, with senior
Kayla Hooks also seeing one inning of action.
Wagner will wrap up the ECU Pirate Clash tomorrow at 12:30 pm with a single game against the Pirates.
