Men’s Basketball Earns Convincing 68-52 Home Victory Over Fairfield

Staten Island, NY – Three Seahawks scored in double figures and the Wagner defense held Fairfield to 30.6% shooting from the field as the Wagner College men's basketball team earned a convincing 68-52 victory over Fairfield at the Spiro Sports Center on Friday night.

Junior DeLonnie Hunt led Wagner with 17 points, while senior Brandon Brown had another double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Graduate student Jahbril Price-Noel delivered 10 points off the bench in the victory.
The Seahawks jumped out to an early advantage, as a Brandon Brown layup capped a 9-0 run to make it 14-6 in favor of the Green and White seven minutes into the game. Wagner further extended its lead into double figures in the first half and led by as many as 17 points as a Brandon Brown three gave the Seahawks a 37-20 advantage with less than two minutes to play in the first half.
Trailing 37-23 at the midway mark, the Stags fought back and cut the deficit to seven points with under six minutes to play, but a clutch three-pointer by Price-Noel with 4:30 to play extended the lead back to double digits at 52-42.
Price-Noel put the exclamation point on an exciting win with a dunk in transition two minutes later, as the Seahawks preserved the victory late to move to 3-1 on the year and 2-0 at the Spiro Sports Center, while the Stags fall to 0-4.
Wagner connected on 24-47 (51.1%) of field goal attempts on the night while holding Fairfield to 6-24 (25%) from the field in the first half and 15-49 (30.6%) throughout the contest. The Seahawks held a 35-28 advantage on the glass while holding a 26-18 advantage in points in the paint.

Next up, Wagner will travel to Newark, NJ to face off with Seton Hall at the Prudential Center on Sunday, with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 pm on FS1.
