New Britain, CT – The Wagner College football team suffered a 34-7 defeat at Central Connecticut on Saturday.
Wagner got on the board late in the first half, as senior
Nick Kargman found junior
Naiem Simmons for a 16-yard touchdown with 21 seconds remaining in the first half. The score was set up by a fake punt, as junior
Tajay Passmore ran for 24 yards to move the chains on fourth down.
Kargman finished the day with 194 yards through the air and a touchdown, as senior
Jayvin Little led Wagner with five catches for 93 yards. Simmons finished the day with a team-high six catches for 54 yards.
Defensively, senior
Coby Calvin led the Green and White with 11 total tackles, while senior
John Gioia picked up 10 stops and one tackle for loss.
The Blue Devils opened the game with 28 unanswered points in the first half and tacked on a late score in the fourth quarter to earn their first victory of the season.
Next up, Wagner will travel to Stonehill on Saturday, November 5, with kickoff set for 1:00 pm.
