Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College football team suffered a 50-10 defeat at Stonehill on Saturday afternoon.
The Seahawks were led by freshman quarterback
Damien Mazil, who led the Green and White with 120 yards passing along with his first collegiate touchdown pass.
After senior
Jayvin Little returned the opening kickoff 41 yards to the Wagner 46-yard line, the Seahawks moved the ball into the red zone and took the lead on a 21-yard field goal by sophomore
Austin Hosier, which capped off a 15-play drive that spanned 50 yards.
The Skyhawks took a 14-3 lead, but Wagner fought back as Mazil found junior
Naiem Simmons from one yard out to cut the deficit to 14-10 with 12:06 to play in the first half.
Stonehill pulled away late in the first half and added 19 points in the second half to earn the 50-10 victory.
Simmons led Wagne with five receptions for 58 yards, while freshman
Zachary Palmer-Smith was the Seahawks' leading rusher with 59 yards on the ground.
Defensively, Wagner was led by senior
Coby Calvin, who contributed nine total tackles.
Next up, Wagner will host Sacred Heart on November 12 on Senior Day, with kickoff set for 12:00 pm.
