Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team earned its first Northeast Conference (NEC) victory of the season against St. Francis Brooklyn, 4-2 on senior day at Hameline Field.
Prior to the contest, the Wagner women's soccer program honored its eight seniors:
Madison Carr,
Juliana Rafaniello,
Jordyn Price,
Isabella Manzella,
Renata Djuravcevic,
Erin Kelly, Madelyn Wilde, and
Annie White.
Wagner was off and running early in the contest as senior
Isabella Manzella tallied her first goal of the season 17:18 into the contest. A little over 10 minutes later, sophomore
Olivia Rubbo doubled the Wagner lead.
Junior Jocelyn Billingsley joined the scoresheet 35 minutes into the contest off an assist from sophomore
Emma Roe. For Billingsley, it was her first career goal for the Seahawks. Freshman
Katelyn Sheuchenko also tallied her first career goal for the Seahawks with 45 seconds remaining in the first half. Senior
Erin Kelly stopped four shots in the first half to preserve the lead for Wagner.
In the second half, St. Francis Brooklyn got on the scoresheet 5:43 into the half. A little over 20 minutes later, the Terriers cut the Wagner lead in half to 4-2.
The lead Wagner built in the opening 45 minutes was too much for the Terriers to overcome and Wagner earned a 4-2 victory, its first NEC victory of the 2022 season.
The win for Wagner also snaps a six-game losing streak.
The Seahawks will be back in action on Sunday, October 9 when they travel to Brookville, NY to take on LIU at 1:00 P.M.
