Staten Island, NY – The Wagner field hockey team earned a non-conference victory over La Salle on Sunday afternoon.
In the opening quarter, neither team was able to find the back of the net as Wagner generated five shots. Graduate student goalkeeper
Daisy Ruhle stopped two shots in the frame to keep the game scoreless. Both teams generated four corners each in the opening 15 minutes.
La Salle opened the scoring late in the second to take a 1-0 lead, the Explorers earned a goal on its lone shot of the frame.
Wagner generated four shots in the second frame but were unable to find the back of the net.
La Salle tallied a goal 54 seconds into the second half to double its lead to 2-0. The game stayed at that stalemate until sophomore
Liselotte Koop tallied a goal to cut the La Salle lead in half with 18 seconds remaining in the quarter. Koop's goal was setup by graduate student
Julia Cruces Pastorino.
In the fourth quarter, Wagner tallied six shots in the attempt to tie up the game at two. Wagner broke through and tied the game with less than 20 seconds remaining to force overtime. The goal was scored by
Liselotte Koop, her second of the second half.
Wagner earned its third straight victory 42 seconds into the overtime period as graduate student

Julia Cruces Pastorino who fired a shot past the La Salle goalkeeper to give Wagner a 3-2 win in overtime.
The victory moves Wagner to 9-5 on the season, matching a program record for victories in a single-season.
The Seahawks will resume conference play on Friday, October 21 when they travel to Fairfield, CT to take on defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champion Fairfield at 4:00 P.M.
