Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team earned a 3-1 Northeast Conference (NEC) victory over Stonehill at Hameline Field on Thursday afternoon.
Stonehill grabbed the early advantage just under 10 minutes into the contest.
After Stonehill scored, Wagner tallied five shots and earned three corner kick opportunities before finally leveling the scoring 28 minutes into the contest.
Senior
Maddie Wilde found the back of the net off a corner kick taken by fifth year senior
Gabby Cipriano. With one minute remaining in the first half, Cipriano was at it again as she found the back of the net to give Wagner a 2-1 advantage at halftime.
Wagner tallied 11 shots in the first half with seven on target while earning six corner kick opportunities.
In the second half, Senior
Madison Carr doubled the Wagner lead17 minutes into the second half.
While scoring one goal in the final 45 minutes, the Seahawks tallied nine shots in the second half while shooting eight on target.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Sam Hughes stopped four shots in the second half which brought her game total to five.
As a team, the Green & White had 20 shots and 15 on target in its second conference victory of the 2022 season.
With three regular season games remaining, Wagner will continue conference play when they travel to North Andover, MA to take on Merrimack on Sunday, October 16 at 1:00 P.M.
