Altoona, PA - The Wagner College women's bowling team concluded the first day of competition at the Red Flash Invite, hosted by fellow Northeast Conference (NEC) member, Saint Francis U, at Holiday Bowl.
The Seahawks were pitted in five traditional matches on the day. Out of 13 teams competing at this weekend's three-day meet, the Green & White placed seventh with a total pinfall of 4,109.
Morgan State University went 4-0 on the day and accumulated 4,865 total pins to take the top spot. Wilmington University (DE) was next at 4,570, followed by the host Red Flash in third with a total score of 4,502.

"We competed in every match on the first day of competition. There are things that we need to work on, but I am proud of the effort that our girls exhibited on the lanes today. It is a long tournament and we will make the adjustments as we get set to bowl five more matches in Bakers tomorrow."
Traditional #1 - Wagner 817, Walsh University (Ohio) 873
- In the first match of the day, the Seahawks were pitted against Walsh University (Ohio).
- Sophomore co-captain Amanda Medvetz led the way for the Green & White, rolling a 181.
- Lauren Sarreal concluded the match with a 178, while co-captain Totiana Miranda finished at 177.
Traditional #2 - Wagner 833, the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford 881
- The Seahawks were next pitted against the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
- Miranda paced Wagner with a 192 while Kaitlyn Gonsalves, who started in the second match, rolled a 185.
- Kristina Colon rounded out the performances with a 175.
Traditional #3 - Wagner 782, La Roche University 819
- The Green & White put forth a valiant effort in the third match of the day against La Roche University.
- Miranda continued to bowl well, carrying over the momentum from the second game, as she finished with a team-high 184.
- America Carhart was next at 179 while Colon posted a 171.
Traditional #4 - Wagner 800, Mount Aloysius College 836
- For the second straight match, the Seahawks were within 40 pins as Miranda posted the first 200-game of the weekend for the Green & White, totaling a 201 to lead the Seahawks.
- Colon finished with her highest total of the day, 189.
Traditional #5 - Wagner 877, Saint Francis U 925
- Against the host Red Flash, the Seahawks were able to make shots but couldn't complete the comeback.
- Carhart narrowly missed Wagner's second 200-game of the day, as she finished at 196 while Sarreal bowled a 186.
