Women's Bowling Concludes Play At Seahawks Invite

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's bowling team concluded play in their second home meet of the season, the Seahawks Invite, on Sunday afternoon. After picking up three wins on Day One, the Seahawks added two more Baker pinfall victories.

Adelphi took home the team title, finishing with an 8-2 record while totaling 9,123 pins between Saturday's traditional matches and Sunday's Baker matches. Morgan State and Caldwell each posted identical 7-3 records but the Bears edged out the Cougars in total pinfall over the two-days, 8,867 - 8,834. 

Wagner placed seventh over the two-day tournament, racking up 8,173 in total pins.

"We continue to grow and get better as a team in each tournament we compete in. After a few weeks off, it was great to get back into the swing of things. We put forth a good showing and will make adjustments as we get set to compete at the Red Flash Invite next weekend."  

Baker Pinfall #1 - Wagner 789, St. Francis Brooklyn 854
  • The Seahawks were pitted against a familiar Northeast Conference (NEC) foe in St. Francis Brooklyn to open the second day of competition. 
  • In the first game, Wagner was able to outlast the Terriers, 177-171, thanks to co-captain Totiana Miranda, who was able to roll two strikes and add nine pins in giving the Seahawks a six-pin advantage. 
  • SFBK was able to capitalize on some open frame opportunities, outlasting the Seahawks, 163-127, in the second game, giving the Terriers a 30-pin cushion. (334-304). 
  • The host chipped into the lead but the Terriers were able to edge out the Seahawks by 24 pins, 159-135, in upping the lead to 54 pins (493-439). 
  • In game four, the Seahawks was one pin better than their Brooklyn NEC counterparts, but St. Francis Brooklyn still held the lead (634-687). 
  • In the final game, the Seahawks remained close by could not overtake SFBK, falling 167-165 in the final game. 
  • Amanda Medvetz led the way against SFBK with a 195 followed by America Carhart at 177. 
 
 
Baker Pinfall #2 - Wagner 859, Morgan State 976
  • The Seahawks were pitted against Morgan State in the second match of the day. 
  • In the first game, Morgan State claimed a 14-pin advantage (177-163) before the lead increased to 42 after the Bears rolled a 215. 
  • MSU carried that momentum over to the third game, outshooting Wagner, 193-168. 
  • In the fourth game, the Seahawks remained close with Morgan State, dropping a two-pin decision, 189-187, with MSU holding a 89-pin lead. 
  • In the final game, Morgan State rolled their second 200-game of the match, this time finishing at 202 to Wagner's 174. 
  • Medvetz led the way for the second straight game, rolling a 187 while Miranda was next at 174. 
 
Baker Pinfall #3 - Wagner 831, St. Thomas Aquinas 714
  • Wagner earned their first win of the day against the Spartans. 
  • Trailing 163-135 after the first game, the Seahawks quickly answered back, rolling a 197 to STAC's 126 in building a 43-pin advantage.  
  • The two teams split the third and fourth games (147-118, Wagner in game three | 164-147 STAC in game four), which set the stage for the fifth and final game. 
  • The Seahawks notched their first 200-game of the Baker pinfall to outlast St. Thomas Aquinas, 205-143.
  • Miranda, bowling anchor, recorded a 205 while Kristina Colon finished with a 197. 
 
Baker Pinfall #4 - Wagner 915, Molloy 896
  • In one of the closest matches of the day, Wagner was able to withstand Molloy's initial push. 
  • Over the first three games, the Green & White trailed 543-486.
  • The Seahawks found their rhythm, firing off a day-high 225 and finishing the match with a 205. 
  • Medvetz finished with a 225 while Miranda bowled a 204.

     
Baker Pinfall #5 - Wagner 752, Caldwell 951
  • In the final Baker match of the day, the Seahawks and Cougars faced off. 
  • The Seahawks struggled early on but closed out strong. 
  • Caldwell posted a 204 in the third game and followed that up with a 205 in the final game to seal the victory. 
  • Miranda led the way with a 176. 
 
Seahawks Invite All-Tournament Team Announcement…
  • At the conclusion of this year's Seahawks Invite, the All-Tournament team was announced. 
  • Caldwell's Jenna Rapach took home Most Valuable Player honors after tallying a total pin fall of  974 (194.80 average). 
  • Joining Rapach on the All-Tournament team was St. Francis Brooklyn's Kimmi D'Ottavio, Caldwell's Rhianna Smith, St. Thomas Aquinas Ashley Sena, Morgan State's Natalia Miranda Vega, Saint Francis U's Kassidy Landwehr and Morgan State's La'Monique Berriors.
