Towson, MD – The Wagner field hockey team earned their second straight win, defeating Towson, 3-1, on the road on Friday afternoon.
The Tigers took the early lead in the first quarter as Elizabeth Harper put a shot past Daisy Ruhle after receiving the feed from Georgia Beachley and Mackenzie Tillman.
Despite being outshot 7-4 in the early portion, Ruhle made two key stops to keep the deficit at one.
The momentum swung in the favor of Wagner in the second quarter, as the visitors outshot the Tigers, 8-0. Senior Agustina DeHarbe netted her second goal of the year to level the score at 1-1 after getting the pass from Liselotte Koop.
Wagner continued its offensive prowess, as ten minutes into the third quarter, the Seahawks scored the go-ahead tally. The Green & White set up for a penalty corner as senior Koop sent the feed to senior
Julia Cruces Pastorino, who was able to spot Rocuskie for the goal.
For Koop, it marked her second helper of the contest and team-leading sixth of the season. For Cruces Pastorino, it was her first helper of the year.
Koop continued to be a key factor for the Seahawk offense, as she netted her second goal of the year ten minutes into the final stanza. Sophomore
Emma Brushingham was credited with her first assist of the season while Cruces Pastorino picked up her second assist of the game.
Ruhle kept the Tigers' offense at bay, stopping five shots in the contest. Koop tallied six shots while senior Laura Van Hamburg contributed four shot attempts.
For the contest, Wagner outshot Towson, 19-13, while 12 attempts were on target for Wagner, resulting in the three scores.
Wagner will look for its third-straight win on Sunday to conclude when they welcome Big East field hockey member, Quinnipiac, to the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
