West Long Branch, NJ – The Wagner men's tennis team started its season with 7-0 defeat to Monmouth on Wednesday afternoon.
The Seahawk pairing of
Rodrigo Perez and
Aryan Gupta picked up the lone victory of the afternoon for the visitors, defeating Arthur Dussaubat and Christof Zeiler, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles.
Tejasvi Mehra, competing out of the No. 1 position, nearly rallied back in his match against Charlie Penman before dropping a 6-3; 6-4 decision. At No. 3 singles,
Omar Loutfy dropped the first set to Diego Laporta, 6-2, but fought back in the match before Laporta was able to pick up a 6-4 win in the second set.
Wagner will next be in action on Friday, October 8 when the Seahawks travel to Jersey City, NJ to take on the New Jersey City Gothic Knights at the West Orange Tennis Club.
