Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College field hockey team welcomes the University of Albany to the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex for its home opener on Friday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m.

The Seahawks opened their fall 2021 season at Hofstra on Sunday afternoon when they lost to the Pride 5-1. Senior Laura Van Hamburg scored the lone goal Wagner as it was her second career tally. The loss moves the Seahawks to 1-2 lifetime against Hofstra. Starting goalie Erin Franklin made seven saves in goal for the Green & White. "We are excited to go into our second game and the first home game of the season," said Miller. "The players have put in a lot of hard work into learning from the last game against Hofstra. Every game we are looking to grow as a team to get us prepared for conference play."

This will be the second meeting between Wagner and Albany in field hockey. The Seahawks fell to Albany 4-0 on September 29, 2019, on the road. This upcoming contest will be the first time Albany travels to Grymes Hill.

The University of Albany Great Danes field hockey team enters their matchup with Wagner with a 1-1 overall record. They opened the season with a 2-1 victory at home against Colgate University on Friday, Aug 27 before losing 2-1 to Fairfield two days later.

Friday's contest won't be the only time the Seahawks square off against an America East Conference team this season. The Green & White will host UMass Lowell on Friday Sept. 17 and the University of Vermont on Sunday Oct. 3 at the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex.

The Seahawks will have seven days off following their home opener before they travel to Ithaca, NY where they will take on Cornell University on September 10 at 4:00 P.M.
