Field Hockey Drops 2-1 Decision To UMass Lowell

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner field hockey team dropped a home non-conference contest to UMass Lowell 2-1 Friday afternoon from the Wagner field hockey complex.

The River Hawks opened the scoring 7:20 into the contest when senior Jenna Berger placed a shot past senior net-minder Daisy Ruhle. UMass Lowell controlled the pace of the opening quarter as they out-shot the Green & White 5-0, three of which were saved by Ruhle. Both teams attempted a corner in the opening quarter. The Seahawks attempted two shots in the second quarter but failed to convert any on frame while the River Hawks also had two shots in the quarter, but both were stopped.

The Seahawks got on the board five minutes into the second half on a goal from senior Agustina DeHarbe, her first of the Fall 2021 season. Liselotte Koop assisted DeHarbe's tally bringing her assist total to three on the season; she has assisted on every Seahawks goal of the 2021 season. The River Hawks regained the lead two minutes after Wagner knotted the score when Berger converted her second goal of the game and her fourth of the season. Wagner outshot UMass Lowell 10-5 in the second half but only converted one of them past sophomore goalkeeper Eleonore Boekhorst.

Senior Julia Cruces Pastorino and senior Agustina DeHarbe led Wagner with three shots apiece, Daisy Ruhle made eight saves in the losing effort.

The Seahawks will have Saturday off before traveling to New Haven, CT to take on the Yale Bulldogs Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. on ESPN+.
