Staten Island, NY – The Wagner field hockey team is set for two contests this weekend, the first occurring at Grymes Hill on Friday afternoon when they'll host UMass Lowell. The second contest will take place in New Haven, CT when the Seahawks will battle Yale University.

The Seahawks traveled to Cornell University and La Salle University last weekend, dropping both contests. Against Cornell, the Seahawks allowed two goals in the third quarter, which wound up being the difference in the contest. Senior Daisy Ruhle made seven saves in the defeat and senior Laura Van Hamburg led Wagner with two shots in the match.

The final game of the weekend saw Wagner travel to Philadelphia, PA to battle La Salle University. La Salle tallied a first quarter goal before the Seahawks opened the second half with a fury of chances as they out-shot the Explorers 7-0 in the first half of the third period. Unfortunately, the chances went unconverted for the Green & White.

This will be the first time Wagner and UMass Lowell square off in field hockey. The River Hawks come into their matchup with the Seahawks sporting a 3-1 record including two straight wins against Boston University and Hofstra University. Their lone loss of the season came against #6 UConn. UMass Lowell is the second America East team to visit Grymes Hill in the early part of the season, following Albany's trip on September 3. The University of Vermont will be the final America East team to visit Wagner on Sunday, Oct. 3.

Following their home clash with UMass Lowell, the Seahawks will travel to Yale University two play their second Ivy League opponent in their last four games. The game is slated for Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. at Johnson Field.
