Philadelphia, PA – The Wagner College field hockey team is set for the final game of a weekend road trip at La Salle University on Sunday afternoon. The first game of the weekend, a tilt at Cornell University resulted in a 2-0 loss for the Seahawks to bring their 2021 record to 0-3 on the young season.

Daisy Ruhle made seven saves in total including four in the first quarter. Cornell tallied both of their goals in the third quarter and were two minutes apart from each other. The Big Red out-shot the Green & White 16-5 in the contest.
La Salle entered the weekend with a 2-2 overall record after opening the 2021 season with an overtime loss at the hand of fellow NEC school Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. Rider was picked to win the 2021 Northeast Conference Championship. After hosting Lehigh University on Friday afternoon, the explorers record moved to 3-2 with a 4-3 victory over Lehigh University.
Wagner and La Salle have squared off once in the brief lifespan of Wagner field hockey. Six current members of the Green & White team were on the field when La Salle beat the Seahawks 6-0 on Grymes Hill. The game against La Salle took place in 2019, this was the first home game for the Wagner College field hockey team and the first defeat in program history.
Following their two games in three days, the Seahawks will have five days before their next contest that will take place on Grymes hill when they host UMass Lowell on Friday, September, 17 at 3:00 P.M.
