Staten Island, NY – Freshman goalkeeper
Erin Franklin stood tall in the Wagner net for over 60 minutes on Friday afternoon, but it wasn't enough as an overtime winner from Hofstra handed the Seahawks their first defeat of the 2021 spring season.
Through regulation Franklin registered a game-high eight saves, as she kept the Pride scoreless. However, the Seahawks were only able to record one shot on target in the match and failed to break the deadlock, as the game went into a sudden-victory overtime session.
Hofstra freshman Jasmijn Verdoes ended the game with a game-winner just over a minute into the extra period, as she scooped up a rebound and shot it past the outstretched Franklin.
The win moves Wagner to 0-1 on the season, while Hofstra improves to 1-3 on the year.
The Green & White were outshot 18 to five in the game, as Hofstra controlled most of the possession in the match.
Agustina Deharbe led all Seahawks with three shots in the game, while
Julia Cruces Pastorino recorded one shot, the lone shot on target for Wagner.
The Seahawks returns to action for a home game against Sacred Heart on Monday, March 22, at 3:00 PM. It will be their Northeast Conference (NEC) opener.
