Softball Drops Pair Of Games At Saint Francis U

Loretto, PA - The Wagner College softball team fell to Saint Francis U in Sunday's Northeast Conference (NEC) doubleheader, losing by a score of 10-0 in game one before falling 17-0 in game two.

With the two losses, the Seahawks now fall to 6-6 on the season and 2-6 in NEC play, while the  Red Flash improves to 19-6.

Game 1 Recap: SFU 10-0 Wagner 

The Seahawks registered six walks throughout the contest, while junior Nora Conway registered the lone hit for Wagner on a single in the third inning.

Junior Makenzie Miller led the Green and White with two walks, while Conway, freshman Keaghan Ward, junior Natalie Del Ponte and graduate student Amelia Van Orman all reached base on walks throughout the contest.

Junior Eve Harvey suffered the loss in the circle, while junior Kayla Hooks also saw action in relief.

The Red Flash scored five runs in the first, two in the second, and three runs in the third inning to earn the victory.

Game 2 Recap: SFU 17-0 Wagner 

Ward and Conway both registered hits for the Seahawks in the second game of the afternoon, which was delayed multiple times due to rain. 

Junior catcher Mackenzie Vogler was the third Seahawk to get on base during the game, drawing a walk in the fourth inning.

In the circle, Van Orman was charged with the loss, while freshman Scarlett Lloyd pitched one inning in relief.

The Red Flash took a 2-0 lead in the first and scored eight runs in the third and seven in the fourth to complete the sweep.

Next up, the Seahawks will start a 16-game homestand, beginning with two doubleheaders against Bryant on April 2 and 3.
