Loretto, PA - The Wagner College softball team dropped the first of two doubleheaders to Saint Francis U on Saturday, falling 3-0 in game one and 1-0 in game two despite having the tying run on base in the seventh inning of both games.
With the losses, the Seahawks fall to 6-4 this season and 2-4 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play, while the Red Flash improves to 17-6 overall and 2-0 in NEC action.Â

The Seahawks rallied in the top half of the seventh inning to attempt a comeback, as junior
Nora Conway and sophomore
Bianca Worthy put runners on first and second with consecutive one-out singles. Two batters later, freshman
Keaghan Ward loaded the bases with another single, but it wasn't enough, as the Red Flash prevailed for the victory.
Saint Francis U scored all three of its runs in the bottom half of the third inning on two RBI singles and a sacrifice fly.

Mackenzie Vogler also had hits for the Seahawks, who led 5-4 overall in the hit column.Â

Eve Harvey went the distance and was charged with the loss despite only giving up four hits throughout the contest.
Game 2 Recap: SFU 1-0 Wagner
After the Red Flash took the lead in the fifth inning on a solo shot by Brittney Crawford, the Seahawks once again came close to tying the game in the seventh inning.
Down to their last out, the Seahawks picked up back-to-back base hits, as Vogler and freshman
Scarlett Lloyd moved the tying run into scoring position, before a strikeout ended the game and sealed the victory for Saint Francis U.
Both teams combined for nine hits in the contest once again, with the Red Flash holding the 5-4 advantage this time around.
Lloyd led Wagner with two hits, while Vogler and Van Orman also picked up base hits throughout the contest.
In the circle, Van Orman was charged with her first loss of the season after throwing six innings and giving up just five hits while striking out two batters.
Both teams return tomorrow for the second doubleheader of the series, with first pitch set for noon.
