Somerset, NJ – Freshman
Erin Franklin of the Wagner field hockey team claimed the season's first Northeast Conference (NEC) Rookie of the Week award, the league office announced on Friday afternoon.
Franklin opened her collegiate career by recording nine saves in over 61 minutes of action against the visiting Hofstra Pride. The Swadlincote, England native stopped two shots in the first half before an impressive five-save performance in the second half. Her seven regulation time saves led the Green & White to their first-ever overtime game, where she recorded another two stops before finally allowing a shot past her.
In addition to Franklin garnering Rookie of the Week honors, she also earned a spot on the #NECPrimePerformer List.
Franklin and her teammates gear up their NEC conference-opener on Monday, March 22 at 3:00 pm as the Seahawks host the Sacred Heart University Pioneers.
