PDF Stats

North Andover, MA
- The Wagner men's lacrosse team fell 11-5 to Merrimack College in a Northeast Conference contest at Duane Stadium.

Graduate senior Philip Buque and Junior John Killcommons continued their scorings ways as each netted a goal in the afternoon showdown. The pair are the only student-athletes to register a score in each game this season for the Seahawks. Buque has now tallied a team-leading nine goals for the 2021 campaign.

Freshmen Lance Rainer and Justin White found the back of the net as Rainer connected for his first collegiate score. Sophomore Benjamin Stewart rounded out the goal-scorers for the Green & White.

Sophomore Danny Brady had another impressive day between the pipes recording 21 saved for the second consecutive game.

Sophomore defenseman Brendan Higgins scooped up five ground balls while Daren Mayer caused two turnovers and had three ground balls himself.

Jack Rooney led the Warrior attack with five goals and one assist on the afternoon. Merrimack recorded 32 shots on target and caused 17 turnovers.

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 0-4 (0-2) on the year while the Warriors improve to 2-2 (1-1)

How It Happened:
The Warriors came out firing from the opening face-off tallying the first four goals of the contest with two coming from Rooney.

The Seahawks' first score of the game came off an impressive drive by Ben Stewart with 12:48 remaining in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 4-1.

Wagner and Merrimack would trade goals with Max Morrill connecting for the Warriors and Buque finishing on a feed from Tyler Lawton after a series of great passes. Morrill would add another before the break to put the home team up 6-2.

Merrimack would similarly open the third quarter to the first with three consecutive goals before a freshmen connection landed a goal for the Green & White. Aidan Clark would find Justin White who buried a strike by the goalie, making the score 9-3.

The Seahawks and Warriors each notch two more goals before the final horn.

Freshman Lance Rainer converted a long-distance shot while Killcommons connected on a skip shot to bring the final score to 11-5.
