Women's Bowling Finishes Day Two Of NEC Meet #1 Against No. 20 Ranked Fairleigh Dickinson

Mount Joy, PA – The Wagner College women's bowling team squared off against the 20th ranked Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights on the second day of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Meet #1 Saturday at Clearview Lanes in Mount Joy, PA.

Opening Statement
  • "I'm really proud of the way our team competed today... We took FDU to a seventh game in the best-of-seven baker match and even held a 22-pin advantage in the first match... The more we are out there on the lanes, the more we get use to the situations that will continue to be used as building blocks for the future within the program here at Wagner."  
Traditional Match: Wagner 971, Fairleigh Dickinson 1002
  • Totiana Miranda carried over her strong performance from yesterday's action into the second day of play. 
  • After leading Wagner with a 179 against Saint Francis U, the Upper Deerfield Township, NJ native rolled her highest game to date. She finished up with a team-leading 236. 
  • Amanda Medvetz bowled her second 200 game of the year, finishing with a 212.
  • Jessica Fetik (181), Anelise Terrano (174), and Amanda Burdett (168) rounded out the scoring for the Seahawks. 
 
Baker (Five Game) Total Pinfall: Wagner 756, Fairleigh Dickinson 966
  • The Seahawks found themselves trailing by just 45 pins after game one. 
  • Fairleigh Dickinson rolled a combined 420 over the second and third games while Wagner posted a 318 total (138-180), building a 147-pin lead heading into the fourth game.
  • In the fourth game, Wagner gave the Knights a run, but the Knights were able to just hold Wagner off by a margin of two pins, 157-155.  
  • The Knights secured the victory, firing a 213 in the final game to Wagner's 152 total. 
 
Baker Best-of-Seven Match: Wagner 2.5, Fairleigh Dickinson 4.5
  • After dropping the first two games in the best-of-seven series, the Seahawks and Knights bowled to identical 177 scores in the third game, with each team earning a half-win. 
  • Wagner carried that momentum into the fourth game, defeating FDU, 196-176, to cut the deficit to 2.5-1.5
  • The Knights captured the win in game five, 194-144, before the resilient Seahawks responded with a 158-157 triumph in game six, setting up the decisive game seven with the match at 3.5-2.5 in the Knights' favor. 
  • In the final match, Wagner continued to battle and stay within reach, but FDU posted their second 200 game of the series, besting the Seahawks, 210-167.

  • Wagner closes out NEC #1 on Sunday morning with a familiar foe in the LIU Sharks. 
  • The competition is set to start at 8:30 a.m.
