Mount Joy, PA – The Wagner College women's bowling team will be in action this weekend at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Meet #1 in Mount Joy, PA at Clearview Lanes.
All eight NEC members will be in attendance for the three-day event that runs from Feb. 19-21.
Wagner (4-4; 1-2 NEC) kicked off its inaugural slate last week at home with three matches against fellow league member Mount St. Mary's.
Wagner earned the program's first-ever victory against the Mountaineers, 965-901, in the first Baker match back on Feb. 11 at Rab's Country Lanes. The Green & White concluded its first week of play by hosting the first-ever Seahawks Invite on Feb. 12, where the Seahawks placed third.
Wagner had three bowlers place among the top-ten finishers, led by Jessica Fetik, who averaged 170.33. Anelise Terrano was next with a 167.67 average, while Totiana Miranda rounded out the top-10, averaging 163.67.
"We hope to build upon the recent success," said head coach Joseph Ambrose. "We are bowling against teams that appeared in the most recent National Tenpins Coaches' Association (NTCA) poll, with Fairleigh Dickinson ranked No. 20 and both LIU and Saint Francis U receiving votes. We are still learning and growing as a program and know that our team will be up to the task as each of these conference matches is tough and highly competitive."
The weekend format will be a traditional match, a baker, and a best-of-seven baker match. Wagner opens NEC #1 against the Saint Francis U Red Flash on Friday at noon. On Saturday, the Seahawks and the No. 20 ranked Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights will bowl one another at 9:00 a.m. The three-day event concludes Sunday, as Wagner and LIU will take the lanes at 8:30 a.m.
Wagner will be right back on the lanes the following week for the NEC Meet #2, held at Bowlero Lanes in East Brunswick, NJ.
