Women's Basketball Falls On Senior Night To Fairleigh Dickinson

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's basketball team fell behind Fairleigh Dickinson early and couldn't recover en route to a 71-46 setback on Monday evening at the Spiro Sports Center.
 
The loss marked the first time this season that the Seahawks have lost back-to-back games, as Wagner now stands at 7-4 overall and 7-3 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play. Fairleigh Dickinson, who has now won three straight games, improves to 8-6 in league play and 12-7 overall.
 
The NEC standings, as of Feb. 15, stand with Saint Francis U, Wagner's next opponent, leading the pack at 9-1 (11-5 overall) followed by Mount St. Mary's at 8-2 (9-4 overall) in second and Wagner and Sacred Heart, both 7-3 in league play, tied for third. FDU is currently fifth at 8-6.

Before this evening's contest against the Knights, the Seahawks honored the 2021 Senior Class: Kate Tokuhara, Alayshia Dailey, and Khaleah Edwards.
 

 
Junior forward Emilija Krista Grava led the way for Wagner with ten points in 22 minutes of play. For the reigning NEC and Metropolitan Basketball Writers' Association (MBWA) Player of the Week, it marked the ninth time this season that she has eclipsed double-digits in scoring and 39th time she has accomplished the feat in her Wagner career.
 

 
Classmates Zhaneia Thybulle and Amanda Pollard each chipped in eight points apiece, while Thybulle dished out a team-high five assists in her 31 minutes of play. Pollard, who connected on 2 of 4 from the outside, pulled down five caroms. Edwards, who logged 35 minutes this evening, corralled a team-high six boards.
 
Four Knights finished in double-figures, anchored by Madison Stanley's game-high 21 points on 8 of 15 shooting from the floor. Lindsey Mack, who converted on 5 of 10 from three-point range, finished with 15 points. Maria Roters (14 points, seven rebounds) and Chloe Wilson (10 points, eight rebounds) rounded out the scoring for the Knights.
 
The Seahawks will head to Loretto, PA to tangle with the first-place Saint Francis U Red Flash at DeGol Arena on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 6:00 p.m. and conclude the road trip on Friday, Feb. 19 at 4:00 p.m.
