Providence, RI -  The Wagner College women's basketball team concludes its three-game road trip to open the 2021-22 season on Saturday afternoon as they head to Providence, RI to tangle with Ivy League member, Brown University. 

 
OPENING TIP...
  • The Seahawks are looking to bounce back after suffering the first loss of the season at Saint Peter's, 66-57, on Wednesday evening. 
  • Senior guard Zhaneia Thybulle (13.0 ppg/8.5 rpg/5.0 apg) currently ranks among the top-15 in the Northeast Conference (NEC) in scoring, while ranking third in rebounding and first in assists. 
  • Wagner is Brown's fourth straight NEC opponent, as the Bears earned their first win of the year against Bryant, 63-60, back on November 16 in Smithfield, RI.
 
SERIES BREAKDOWN AGAINST BROWN...
  • Saturday's contest with the Bears will only be the second meeting between the two schools. 
  • Back on December 4, 1993, the Seahawks traveled to Providence, RI for the Brown University Classic, in which they fell to the host Bears, 76-48.
SEAHAWKS AGAINST THE IVY LEAGUE...
  • Wagner is 23-32 all-time against members of the Ivy League. 
  • The Green & White boast a 16-8 all-time mark against Columbia.
  • Brown is one of four schools that the Seahawks have yet to pick up a win against - Brown (0-1); Harvard (0-2); University of Pennsylvania (0-2) and Yale (0-7).
  • Wagner will look to halt a nine-game losing streak to an Ivy League opponent, with their last victory being a 97-86 home triumph over Columbia back on December 30, 2014. 
TENACIOUS D...
  • Through the first two games of the 2021-22 season, head coach Terrell Coburn's Seahawks have been defending the ball well. 
  • In games against NJIT and Saint Peter's, the opposition has been held to less than 25.0 percent shooting from three-point range, as the Highlanders shot 11.8 from three and the Peacocks converted on 21.4 percent from the outside. 
  • Wagner has forced at least 20 turnovers in two straight games. 
  • The Seahawks ranked first in the Northeast Conference (NEC) last season in field goal percentage defense (38.2) and second in three-point field goal percentage (29.0). 
SCOUTING BROWN...
  • Brown enters Saturday's contest with a 1-3 overall record. Three of Brown's four opponents have been NEC league members (Sacred Heart, Bryant, and Central Connecticut). 
  • The Bears picked up its first win of the season, 63-60, at Bryant, as Kyla Jones poured in a team-leading 16 points.
  • Brown's head coach, Monique LeBlanc is in her first season at Brown and sports a 1-2 all-time record against the Seahawks, as she faced the Green & White three times while at Merrimack.
  • Jones and Isabella Mauricio are the team's leading scorers at 13.5 and 13.3 ppg, respectively. 
  • Amanda Latkany is the team's leading rebounder at 6.5 per game while Jones has dished out 2.3 helpers and recorded 2.5 steals a contest. 
  • As a whole, Brown is averaging 55.3 points per game while hitting on 37.1 percent from the field and just 22.2 percent from three-point range. 
  • The Bears are -12.5 on the boards, being out-rebounded 43.5 to 31.0.
