Bronx, NY – In its first match of the fall season, the Wagner women's tennis team fell to Fordham, 6-1, at the Hawthorn/Rooney Tennis Courts on Saturday morning.
The Rams swept through the three doubles matches in securing the first point of the match. The Seahawk duo of
Fidan Khalilzade and
Tara Dakic put forth a valiant effort at No. 2, but were edged out, 7-5, by Valeriya Deminova and Nicole Li.
Khalilzade did record the lone singles triumph for the Green & White this morning, as she defeated Avery Aude, 6-2; 6-4 at No. 1 singles.
Fordham won singles matches at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 positions to secure the victory over the Seahawks.
Wagner returns to action on Friday, October 15 as they head to West Long Branch, NJ to take on the Monmouth University Hawks at 3:30 p.m.
