Staten Island, NY – The Wagner field hockey team will conclude Northeast Conference (NEC) regular season play on Thursday at the Wagner Field Hockey Complex against Merrimack College.

Last Time Out…
  • The Seahawks defeated Sacred Heart in their most recent contest on Sunday evening, 2-1 over Sacred Heart to clinch their first NEC Tournament berth in their third season.
  • Freshman Liselotte Koop got the Seahawks off and running in the first quarter with a goal from a penalty corner. Senior Agustina Deharbe collected her first of two assists in the affair.
  • Senior goalkeeper Daisy Ruhle stopped a penalty stroke in the opening stanza to keep the game scoreless before Koop's goal.
  • Sophomore Natalie Rocuskie scored the winning goal with 3:52 remaining in the contest after senior Laura Van Hamburg made a long run with the ball before finding Deharbe who laid the ball off to Rocuskie who slotted a shot into the yawning cage.
  • Daisy Ruhle stopped nine shots in the victory.
Ruhle And Koop Claim NEC Honors…
  • For the third time this season, Daisy Ruhle and Liselotte Koop took home weekly NEC honors.
  • For Ruhle, she claimed Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week and a Prime Performer nod. She tallied 11 saves in two conference victories over the weekend to propel the Seahawks to a playoff berth.
  • The Marlow, England native currently ranks second in the conference in save percentage (.774), third in saves (89), fourth in goals against average (1.78), and fifth in saves per game (5.56).
  • The senior netminder has stopped three out of four penalty strokes on the season and ranks first in Wagner field hockey history in wins (7), saves (89), and is tied for first with teammate Erin Franklin in goals against percentage (1.78).
  • Koop picked up her third Rookie of the Week honor after scoring the opening goal in the Seahawks victory over Sacred Heart. In the victory over Rider, the Green & White took the lead with 2:51 remaining and the freshman defender made two crucial defensive saves to preserve the win for Wagner.
  • The Hattam, Netherlands native currently leads the NEC in assists (9), assists per game (0.56) and defensive saves (5). She ranks fourth in points (23), points per game (1.44), and is tied for fifth in goals (7).
  • Koop also ranks sixth in the NCAA in defensive saves and is currently the all-time leader in program history in assists and is second in points and goals.

Playoff Picture And A Look At The Standings…
  • With a win on Thursday, the Green & White will jump into the two-seed in the NEC tournament if LIU is defeated by Saint Francis University on Friday. If LIU wins, the Seahawks will finish as the three-seed heading into the playoffs due to the Sharks defeating the Seahawks this season.

About Merrimack…
  • Merrimack comes into Thursday's contest against Wagner with a 1-15 record and will conclude their season on Grymes Hill.
  • The Broncs will look to get back in the win column after dropping its most recent contest, 5-0 to the NEC regular season champions Fairfield.
  • Sophomore Katelyn Bennett has anchored the Warriors attack with four goals and eight points.
  • Sophomore Anne-Sophie Hogenboom is tied with Bennett with the team-lead in points and leads the squad along with senior Vanessa Kaddaras in assists with four.
  • Senior Riley Brown has started 10 out of 15 contests for the Warriors, stopping 78 shots on 110 shots faced.

  • The Seahawks will close out their regular season against Lehigh on Sunday, October 31 for senior day at the Wagner Field Hockey Complex at noon before preparation for the NEC tournament the following weekend.
