Staten Island, NY – The Wagner field hockey team closes out the weekend homestand on Sunday afternoon as the Seahawks welcome Big East member, Villanova to the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex. 

Last Time Out…

  • The Seahawks dropped a 3-0 Northeast Conference (NEC) contest to Fairfield on Friday afternoon. 
  • Wagner senior goalkeeper Daisy Ruhle tallied five saves while classmate Agustina Deharbe led the way with four shots. 
  • Fairfield's Agustina Casteluchi scored the first of her two goals with two minutes remaining in the first quarter. 
  • Ruhle kept the Green & White in the match, as she telegraphed the penalty shot attempt from Malen Iglesias, keeping Wagner within one score. 
  • Casteluchi netted her second goal of the afternoon, increasing the visitors' lead to 2-0. 
  • Page Lowry added Fairfield's final score of the contest as she was able to put one past Ruhle. 

About The Seahawks…
  • The Seahawks are 1-0 this season against Big East opponents, as Wagner defeated Quinnipiac, 4-1, back on September 26. 
  • Freshman Liselotte Koop leads Wagner in assists (9), points (21), minutes (775), and defensive saves. The Hattam, Netherlands native is second in goals (6), and shots on goal (20).
  • Koop is continuing to climb the Wagner College field hockey record books as she is first in assists (9), and second in points (21), defensive saves (3), and goals (6).
  • Senior Julia Cruces Pastorino leads the squad in goals (7), shots (52), game-winning goals (3), and shots on goal (52). The Buenos Aires, Argentina native is second in assists (9).
  • Cruces Pastorino remains the leader in all-time points (22) and tied for the lead in goals (7) with former Seahawk Hannah Meyer. She is second all-time in assists (6).
  • Ruhle is the all-time leader in wins (5), and saves (68) while sophomore Natalie Rocuskie is now third all-time in assists (4).

About Villanova…
  • The Wildcats enter play with a 5-9 overall record and a 1-4 record in Big East matches. 
  • Villanova will look to snap a two-game losing streak after falling to No. 10 ranked, Liberty (7-0) on October 8 and No. 17 Connecticut (6-2) on Friday afternoon. 
  • Sophomore Meghan Mitchell has powered the Villanova offense this season as she leads the Wildcats in goals (8), assists (6), and points (22).
  • Senior goalkeeper Jordan McGinley has started all 14 games for the Wildcats, stopping 59 shots on 96 shots faced.
