Loretto, Pennsylvania – The Wagner field hockey team began Northeast Conference (NEC) play with a victory over Saint Francis University to extend their winning streak to four games.
The Seahawks took the early lead in the first quarter as senior
Julia Cruces Pastorino fired a shot past Red Flash goalkeeper Amber Bryan three-minutes into the contest. Cruces Pastorino doubled the Wagner lead as she buried a shot off a pass from sophomore
Arianna Martina. Despite being outshot holding a two-goal cushion after the opening stanza, the shots were even at two for both sides.
The Green & White carried the momentum into the second quarter when freshman
Liselotte Koop fired a shot into the back of the net on feeds from Cruces Pastorino and Martina. The reigning NEC Rookie of the Week has now scored in four straight contests for the Seahawks. Despite being outshot 5-3 in the first half, senior netminder
Daisy Ruhle came up with three saves to preserve the Wagner three-goal lead heading into the break.
The Seahawks continued to finish chances in the third quarter as they found the back of the net four times. Goals from senior

Julia Cruces Pastorino extended the Wagner lead to 7-0 after the third quarter. The Seahawks converted on all four of their shots of the quarter highlighted by Cruces Pastorino's fourth of the game, a single-game record for Wagner field hockey.
The Seahawks added one more goal in the final stanza from
Liselotte Koop to push their total to eight, the most in a single game in program history. The Hattam, Netherlands native continues the strong beginning to her career on Grymes Hill.
Sophomore
Arianna Martina tallied the first points of her career with two assists. For senior reigning NEC Offensive Player of the Week
Agustina Deharbe, she has scored in three consecutive contests for Wagner and
Daisy Ruhle continues her strong senior season notching three saves in the victory.
The Seahawks will close out their weekend with a home non-conference tilt against Vermont University on Sunday, October 3 at noon at the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex.
