AT THE HEART OF IT ALL...
  • In Wagner's conference lid-lifter at Sacred Heart (1.7.21), the Seahawks halted a 13-game losing streak to the Pioneers, securing a 67-62 victory.
  • The win marked Wagner's first over the Pioneers since January 13, 2014.
  • Additionally, last Thursday's triumph was the Seahawks' first at the Pitt Center since January 18, 2000.
KEM-POM...
  • Junior forward Kem Nwabudu made an impactful debut at Sacred Heart this past week.
  • The Elmont, NY native averaged 14.5 points per game and 5.0 rebounds a contest, highlighted by a 20-point outing on Jan. 7 in which she connected on 7-of-15 from the field while corralling six rebounds and swiping two steals in her 30 minutes of action.
FROM LONG ISLAND TO STATEN ISLAND....
  • Both Nwabudu and guard Zhaneia Thybulle made their Wagner debuts in the opener at Sacred Heart.
  • The two Elmont, NY natives were high school teammates at Elmont Memorial Prep in Long Island and were two-time team captains while leading the Spartans to 82 wins over their four-year career, which included four conference championships, back-to-back Long Island champions (2017, 2018) and a New York State finalist in 2018.
DEFENDING THE 3....
  • Through three games this season, Wagner ranks third in the Northeast in three-point field goal defense, holding opponents to just 28.8 percent shooting from long range.
SCHEDULE UPDATES....

FORCING TURNOVERS...
  • The Seahawks defense has forced 92 turnovers over their first three games, which ranks second in the NEC.
  • Wagner is averaging 18.3 forced turnovers a contest.
SCOUTING THE SHARKS...
  • LIU, under second-year head coach, Rene Haynes, is 1-3 this season. All four games have come against league opponents as the Sharks did not play a non-conference schedule this year.
  • The Sharks were swept by the Saint Francis U Red Flash, 76-72 last Thursday, and dropped the season finale, 66-62 last Friday.
  • In the series finale, the LIU defense forced 25 Red Flash turnovers and converted those into 33 points.
