Moon Township, PA–  The Wagner College women's basketball team, as the No. 8 seed, will take on the defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champions and this year's top-seed, the Robert Morris University Colonials, Monday at 7 p.m. at the UMPC Events Center in Moon Township, PA.

WAGNER IN THE NEC TOURNAMENT...
  • All-time, the Seahawks are 14-20 in the Northeast Conference Tournament.
  • Wagner's last victory in the NEC postseason came back in 2002 when the Seahawks, who were a No. 5 seed, defeated the No. 4 seed, Monmouth, 73-59.
  • The Green & White moved to the semifinals, where they dropped a 74-55 decision to the top-seed, Saint Francis U. 
  • This season marks the second straight year that Wagner has qualified for the postseason. 
  • It is the first time the Seahawks have made consecutive trips since 2002-03 and 2003-04.
  • In 2002-03, the Green & White was a six-seed and dropped a 51-48 decision to the No. 3 seed, Monmouth.
  • The following year, the two schools met again with the Hawks besting the Seahawks, 72-54.  
  • Wagner is just 1-3 against Robert Morris in the NEC Tournament.
  • The last time these two teams met in the NEC Tournament was back in 2009-10 when the Colonials were the No. 1 seed and bested Wagner, 68-52. 

 
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE COLONIALS...
  • Wagner is 31-37 all-time against the Colonials.
  • The Seahawks are looking to snap a ten-game losing to Robert Morris.
  • The last time Wagner was victorious against RMU was back on March 2, 2015, when the Green & White went into Moon Township and left with a 66-60 victory. 

ABOUT ROBERT MORRIS...
  • Robert Morris wrapped up the 2019-20 season with a 22-7 overall record and went 17-1 in league play en route to the program's fourth straight Northeast Conference (NEC) regular-season championship. 
  • The Colonials closed out the regular season with a 62-29 victory over Saint Francis U at home. 
  • Nneka Ezeigbo leads the team in points at 13.8 ppg but during the regular season, the Seahawks held her to a total of seven points.
  • Irkepitan Ozzy-Momoud is the team's leading rebounding at 8.6 caroms a game while chipping in 9.1 ppg.  She led the conference in field goal percentage, shooting 56.0 percent from the field. 


LAST TIME AGAINST ROBERT MORRIS...
  • The Wagner College women's basketball team fell to Robert Morris, 77-35, back on February 10 at the Spiro Sports Center. 
  • Senior forward Jordan Hobson led the way for the Seahawks, netting nine points in 20 minutes of action.
  • Junior guard/forward Khaleah Edwards tallied seven points while grabbing a team-best four caroms. 
  • The Colonials were paced by three players scoring in double-figures, led by Irkepitan Ozzy-Momodu, who finished with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds, seven of which coming on the offensive glass.
  • Isabella Posset scored 14 points while Honoka Ikematsu finished with ten points. Esther Castedo dished out a team-high seven assists in 26 minutes of action. 
  • For the second time against the defending league champions, the Seahawks were able to keep RMU's top-scorer, Nneka Ezeigbo, at bay, as she scored six points on 3 of 3 shooting from the field while grabbing three boards and saddled with three fouls in just playing nine minutes. ​​​​​​
  • Ezeigbo, who entered play averaging 14.1 points per game, managed just seven total points in the two contests against Wagner (3.5 points per game) with an average of 5.0 rebounds a game in just 14.5 minutes a game. 

TURN THE BEAT AROUND...
  • The Seahawks finished the regular season ranked 38th in the nation in turnovers forced at 19.24 per contest. 

 
SHARING IS CARING...
  • The Seahawks rank third in the Northeast Conference (NEC) in assists, averaging 13.9 a contest.
  • The 402 total helpers this season are third-most in the league behind Merrimack (414) and Mount St. Mary's (421). 

 
HITTING AT THE LINE...
  • Wagner ranked third during the regular season in the conference in free-throw shooting, converting on 73.2 percent from the charity stripe.
  • The Seahawks finished the year among the top-100 programs in the country, ranking​​​​​​​ 73rd overall. 
  • In NEC-only games, the Seahawks hit at 75.4 percent clip from the free-throw line, leading the entire circuit.

  • The Seahawks are 2-3 over their last five games.
  • Three players are averaging double-figures, led by Krista Grava, who is pouring in 18.0 ppg while grabbing 7.6 caroms in 33.0 mpg. Krista Grava has converted on a team-leading 46.9 percent from the floor during this span. 
  • Junior Khaleah Edwards has contributed 13.2 ppg and 6.0 rpg in her 35.6 minutes of action over the last five contests. ​​​​​​​

  • The Seahawks averaged 62.0 points per game at home while shooting 38.0 percent from the floor and 33.8 percent from the outside.
  • Wagner held a 179-159 edge on the offensive glass at the Spiro Sports Center.
  • Sophomore Emilija Krista Grava and junior Khaleah Edwards led the Seahawk offense inside the Spiro Sports Center, with Krista Grava pouring in 16.5 ppg while Edwards chipped in 11.6 ppg.
  • Krista Grava and Edwards each averaged at least 6.0 rebounds a game at home. 

UP NEXT...
  • The winner of the Wagner/Robert Morris quarterfinal matchup will advance to the semifinals on Thursday, March 12.
  • That contest will be at the home of the highest remaining seed. 
  • The semifinals will be live on ESPN3 and NEC Front Row while the championship game is set for March 15 at 2:00 p.m. and will be televised on ESPNU.
