The Seahawks and Terriers got off to a slow start, scoring a combined three goals in the first period, with Wagner ending the period up 2-1. Early scoring for the Green & White would come at the hands of
Sofia Diaz Alvarez and reigning two-time MAAC Rookie of the Week,
Abbey Simshauser.
The Seahawk attack would explode in the following two periods, extending their lead from one goal to 10 by the end of the third period.
Skye Nankervis led the mid-game charge with three goals, while Simshauser,
Jacqui Sjogren, and
Malia Josephson each added two of their own.
Savannah Henshaw and
Valeria Rojas would both find the back of the cage three times to enter the fourth period leading 13-3.
Three unanswered goals from Diaz Alvarez, Rojas, and
Erin Weisert to open the final stanza would set the score at 16-3 with only 2:45 remaining in the game. The Terriers would put two more scores on the board before the final horn, but it made no difference as the Seahawks walked away with a 16-5 victory.
No. 20 Wagner 12, No. 15 Harvard 8: Game Sheet
A back and forth, low scoring first period, found the Crimson and Seahawks knotted up at two goals apiece after the first eight minutes. Early Wagner scoring came compliments of reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week
Malia Josephson who found the back of the cage twice in the first stanza.
Following the trend from the first game of the day, the Green & White offense erupted in the middle two periods, scoring nine goals in 16 minutes and creating a five-goal lead, 11-6, heading into the final period. Josephson continued to lead the attack, notching four goals in the two-period stretch, while
Skye Nankervis and
Abbey Simshauser each added two, as well as
Jacqui Sjogren who tallied one.
The Crimson would outscore the Seahawks 3-1 in the final period, but it wouldn't be nearly enough as the Green & White avenged a tough 11-10 defeat to Harvard in the Bruno Classic by exiting the pool with a 12-8 victory over the No. 15 ranked team in the nation.
