Clinton, SC – The Wagner College softball team earned a 5-4 victory over Wright State as part of an opening day split at the Scotsman Invitational, hosted by Presbyterian College.
In game two of the day, the Seahawks dropped a 6-0 decision to Presbyterian.

The Seahawks earned a wire-to-wire victory in game one, as senior
Amelia Van Orman put the Seahawks up 1-0 with an RBI double in the first inning that scored Conway, before senior
Christina Harkins doubled the Wagner lead with an RBI groundout.
Wright State plated one run in the bottom half of the inning, but the Seahawks answered right back, as an RBI single by senior
Hannah Lewis scored seniors
Zoe Bender and
Kaila Smith with an RBI single to make it 4-1 Seahawks.
After the Raiders scored another run in the bottom half of the second, Smith launched the first Wagner home run of the season, a solo shot to left field in the top of the fourth inning.
With one out in the bottom of the seventh, Wright State's Olivia Otani homered to make it a one-run game at 5-4, but freshman
Madison Ferrao shut the door in relief of sophomore
Eve Harvey to earn the save.
Harvey earned the win after pitching 6.1 innings, giving up four runs on nine hits, striking out one.
The Seahawks held an 11-9 advantage in hits, sophomore
Natalie Del Ponte led the way with three hits, while Lewis and Van Orman also recorded multi-hit games. Lewis led the way with two RBIs on the day.
Game 2 – Presbyterian 6, Wagner 0
The Seahawks recorded three hits on the afternoon, as Conway led the way with two hits in the second game of the afternoon, while senior
Kyleigh Norris also had a hit.
Wagner had its best scoring opportunity in the third, as Conway singled and advanced to second on an error. The sophomore transfer advanced to third on a flyout by Lewis, but was unable to cross the plate from there.
In the circle, Ferrao earned the first start of her collegiate career, tossing four innings and striking out one, while Van Orman came on to throw two innings in relief.
Presbyterian scored one run in the first, two in the third and fifth, as well as one run in the sixth to earn the victory.
The Seahawks are back in action tomorrow, as they take on Wright State and Cleveland State, with first pitch set for 10 am.
