Women's Basketball Falters At Home Against Defending NEC Champions, Robert Morris

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College women's basketball team fell to Robert Morris, 77-35, Monday night at the Spiro Sports Center. 
 
Senior forward Jordan Hobson led the way for the Seahawks, netting nine points in 20 minutes of action. Junior guard/forward Khaleah Edwards tallied seven points while grabbing a team-best four caroms. 

The Colonials were paced by three players scoring in double-figures, led by a Irkepitan Ozzy-Momodu, who finished with a double-double of 23 points and 15 rebounds, seven of which coming on the offensive glass. Isabella Posset scored 14 points while Honoka Ikematsu finished with ten points. Esther Castedo dished out a team-high seven assists in 26 minutes of action. 

For the second time against the defending league champions, the Seahawks were able to keep RMU's top-scorer, Nneka Ezeigbo, at bay, as she scored six points on 3 of 3 shooting from the field while grabbing three boards and saddled with three fouls in just playing nine minutes. 
 
Ezeigbo, who entered play averaging 14.1 points per game, managed just seven total points in the two contests against Wagner (3.5 points per game) with an average of 5.0 rebounds a game in just 14.5 minutes a game.

  • In games played on Staten Island, both teams are now tied with 16 wins apiece. 
 
The Colonials went ahead, 5-0, before the Seahawks ignited a 7-0 response, with Edwards serving as the spark, converting on a three-point from the corner and was the beneficiary of a well-timed pass from junior guard Alayshia Dailey, who intercepted the pass from RMU's Dahomee Forgues. 
 
 
Robert Morris went on a 15-3 run in taking a 10-point lead by the end of the first 10 minutes of play. 
 

 
The Colonials, who outscored the Seahawks 19-13 over the second quarter, extended the lead to 30 to start the final quarter and didn't look back.
