Men's Tennis Drops Spring Opener At St. John's

Queens, NY - The Wagner College men's tennis team dropped its spring opener, 6-1, to Big East members, St. John's on Wednesday afternoon from Cunningham Park. 
The Red Storm took the first point of the match by sweeping the doubles point. 
In singles action, senior Dylan Walters notched the lone victory for the Green & White. Walters dropped the opening set, 6-2, before rattling off a 7-5 winner in the second set. 
In the deciding third set, the Johannesburg, South Africa native edged Charlie James, 10-8, in recording his first singles victory of the season. 
With the win, Walters moved into a tie for third on the all-time wins list with teammate Hans Ohrner, as each knotted at 41 wins. 
The Green & White will return to the courts on Saturday, February 1 as they will make the trek to West Long Branch, NJ where they will tangle with Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe, Monmouth. Opening serve is slated for 7:30 p.m.
