Moon Township, PA – The Wager women's basketball team embarks for Western Pennsylvania, as the Seahawks will tangle with defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champions, the Robert Morris University Colonials at the brand-new UMPC Events Center on Saturday afternoon.


Wagner All-Time vs. Robert Morris: 
  • The Green & White and Colonials are meeting for the 67th time in program history, with Robert Morris holding a slim 35-31 advantage in the head-to-head series. 
  • Wagner will be looking to snap an eight-game losing streak against Robert Morris, with the Green & White last earning a 66-60 triumph in Moon Township back on March 2, 2015. 

Last Time Out For Wagner: 
  • The Wagner College women's basketball team led by as many as ten points with 2:42 left in the third quarter but the visiting Sacred Heart Pioneers closed the quarter on an 11-5 run, part of a larger 41-17 game-ending spurt that lifted SHU past the Seahawks, 79-65, on Saturday afternoon. 
  • Three Seahawks finished in double figures, led by forward Emilija Krista Grava's 18-point performance. The sophomore hit on 8-of-14 from the field in 25 minutes of action, coming within one rebound of her third double-double of the season, grabbing a team-high nine caroms. 
  • Junior guard Khaleah Edwards finished with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field, which included a 3-of-5 mark from three-point range in her 38 minutes of action. The London, England native corralled six rebounds, five of which coming on the offensive glass. 
  • Senior Jordan Hobson added 13 points off-the-bench, also hitting on a trio of three-pointers in her 28 minutes of play. 
  • Four Pioneers finished the game scoring in double digits, led by Olivia Dabney, who recorded a double-double, as she finished the ballgame with a team-best 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while playing the full forty. 
  • Sonia Smith and Jayla Davis each had 16 points on a combing 8-of-20 shooting from the field. Adrianne Hagood, who entered play as the fourth leading scorer in the Northeast Conference (NEC), finished with 15 points. Carly Stroemel secured ten rebounds in 22 minutes of play. 
 


A Win Over Robert Morris Would: 
  • snap a six-game losing streak.
  • give Wagner its first conference win of the season (entering play at 0-2) 
  • be Wagner's 32nd in the series against Robert Morris (31-35 entering play)
  • snap an eight-game losing streak to the Colonials (Last Win: March 2, 2014 - 66-60 in Moon Township).
  • be the 25th win at Wagner for Head Coach Heather Jacobs

Road Bump:
  • When the Seahawks travel to Western Pennsylvania this weekend, they will be looking for their first road win of the season, as they currently stand at 0-7 this season and dating back to last year, are winless in their last nine road games. 
  • The last time the Seahawks won on the road came on February 23, 2019, at Fairleigh Dickinson, when the Green & White defeated the Knights, 60-44, in Teaneck, NJ.  
  • Freshman guard Alex Cowan and sophomore forward Emilija Krista Grava are the lone Seahawks scoring in double-figures away from the Spiro Sports Center, with Cowan leading the way at 14.5 ppg in six games while Krista Grava has netted 11.3 ppg and a team-leading 4.6 rebounds.
  • The Green & White have scored 58.3 ppg in seven road games this year while shooting just 36.1 percent from the field and under 30.0 percent from beyond-the-arc. 

Seahawks Among NCAA Leaders: 
  • Junior Khaleah Edwards is 46th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage as the third-year Seahawk has converted 41.8 percent from long range; she is the current NEC leader. 
  • Sophomore Emilija Krista Grava ranks 104th in the nation in field-goal percentage, shooting 49.7 from the field, which paces the NEC. 
 

Saturday Hoops:
  • The Green & White are 2-3 in five Saturday contests this season, after falling most recently in the home NEC opener to Sacred Heart on January 4 (79-65). 
  • Three Seahawks have eclipsed the double-figure mark thus far in five Saturday matchups, led by Krista Grava, who is netting 13.0 ppg while hitting on a team-high 51.2 percent from the field in just 27.0 minutes of action.
  • Cowan is next at 12.2 ppg while dishing out 3.0 apg in 29.6 mpg.
  • Edwards rounds out the trip with 11.3 ppg while crashing the boards with 5.5 caroms a game in 31.8 mpg. 
  • As a whole, Wagner is tallying 62.6 ppg on Saturday, while hitting on 35.9 percent of its shots from the field while converting at a 71.8 percent clip at the charity stripe. 
  • The Seahawks have forced 20.0 turnovers on Saturday. and have averaged close to 15.0 apg during these games.

 
This & That:
  • This weekend's tour of Western Pennsylvania will mark Wagner's 178th and 179th all-time career games in the Keystone State. The Seahawks are 63-115 all-time in games played in the state of Pennsylvania. 
  • Of the 67 total wins, Wagner has racked up 31 wins against Robert Morris. Saint Francis U is next at 22. 
  • Sophomore guard Raven Pitt matched her career-high with four assists against Sacred Heart on Saturday. This marked the second time this season in which the Queens, NY native has dished out that many assists, the first coming back on December 22 on the road at Colgate.  


Tale Of Two Halves:
  • In the opening 20 minutes of play, Wagner is averaging 27.0 ppg while shooting 34.2 percent from the field while being held to just 28.1 percent from three-point range and 65.0 percent from the free-throw line. 
  • Sophomore forward Emilija Krista Grava leads the team, averaging 7.0 ppg and shooting 48.7 percent from the field in the opening half. 
  • Wagner's opponents are tallying 36.8 ppg on 42.6 percent shooting from the field, 31.5 percent from three-point land and converting 69.0 percent from the free-throw line. 
  • Wagner is a -2.8 in turnover margin in the opening half of play. 
  • Flipping the script to the third and fourth quarters, the Seahawks have increased their production, averaging 35.8 ppg while shooting 41.7 percent from the field, 34.5 percent from deep and hitting on 72.0 percent from the free-throw line. 
  • The Seahawks have averaged 17.2 rebounds in the second half and hold an 86-74 edge on the offensive glass in the second half. 
  • Krista Grava is netting nearly 9.0 ppg in the second half of play, shooting a blistering 50.6 percent from the field while pulling down close to 3.0 rebounds in the final 20 minutes. 
  • Freshman guard Alex Cowan has netted nearly 8.0 ppg in the final two quarters while dishing out 19 assists. 
  • Junior Khaleah Edwards has poured in 6.9 ppg in 15.6 mpg while hitting on 51.6 percent from the floor and a team-leading 48.6 percent from beyond-the-arc. 
  • The Seahawks cut down on their turnovers in the latter half of the contest, as they are a -0.2 in turnover margin, averaging 8.7 mishaps while forcing 8.5 turnovers. 


About Robert Morris: 
  • Robert Morris, the unanimous preseason favorite, is the defending league champions and enter play at 7-6 overall and 2-0 in league games after earning a 68-62 road triumph over Merrimack.
  • Nneka Ezeigbo, the newly minted NEC Player of the Week, leads the team in scoring at 15.4 ppg, rebounds at 8.5 per game and blocked shots. 
  • Ezeigbo, who averaged 21.0 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 4.5 spg and shot 65.4 from the field against Central Connecticut and Merrimack, has paced the Colonials scoring in 10 of 13 games this season. Only twice this season has Ezeigbo been held to single-digits in scoring (11/5 at TCU & 12/7 against Delaware).
  • Nina Augustin is the team's second leading scorer at 8.3 ppg but leads RMU in assists at 3.9 assists per contest, which is third in the league behind SFBK's Nevena Dimitrijevic (5.9 apg) and LIU's Ryan Weise (4.1 apg).  
  • Robert Morris is collectively averaging 64.6 ppg while shooting 37.3 percent from the field and hitting on 30.0 percent from the outside. 

Alumni Day Set For January 18: 
  • The Seahawks' annual Basketball Alumni Day event will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2020, when Wagner hosts St. Francis Brooklyn for a doubleheader at the Spiro Sports Center.
