Staten Island, NY – On Saturday, September 7, members of the Wagner College men's basketball program enthusiastically participated in the Third Annual Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC) 5K Run/Walk held in Cloves Lake Park.
The mission of the event is to benefit RUMC's Maternal Child Area in the new emergency department. On this special day, Richmond University Medical Center brings together its employees, family, friends and community members, such as the Seahawk men's basketball program, to help children become more comfortable when in a traumatic setting with state-of-the-art technology and cutting edge equipment.
All proceeds go to the pediatric unit in the new Emergency Department.
"It was an honor and a privilege for to be a part of the RUMC 5K this year, along with my coaching staff and our student-athletes," said Wagner head men's basketball coach
Bashir Mason. "With two young children of my own, this cause hits particularly close to home.
"So, it was nice to do our small part in supporting a cause whose aim is to improve the lives of children who have been thrust into traumatic situations," Mason added.
