Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College field hockey team will christen the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex in its home opener Sunday afternoon as the Seahawks welcome the La Salle University Explorers. 

LAST TIME OUT FOR WAGNER: 

• The Seahawks took down Hofstra, 3-0, last Friday afternoon in Hempstead, NY. 
• Freshman forward Kira Mordvinov notched two goals, including the game winner just five minutes into the first quarter.
• Freshman midfielder Hannah Meyer added a third goal in the fourth quarter.
• Freshmen Gabrielle Dudek and Joy Muller grabbed an assist each during the contest.
• Graduate goalkeeper Annabel Zandvoort and freshman goalkeeper Justine Van Spengler combined for six saves in the shutout win for Wagner.

ABOUT LA SALLE:

• The Explorers enter play with a 1-2 overall record after dropping a 2-1 overtime decision at Rider on Friday.
• La Salle opened the 2019 season with a 3-0 win over Northeast Conference foe, Sacred Heart as freshman forward Hannah Yanovich scored the winning goal less than four minutes into the opening stanza. 
• The Explorers were predicted to finish 6th in the 2019 Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Preseason Coaches' Poll.
• Senior midfielder Amanda Chapin was tied with a team leading eight assists last season and was named to the preseason All-Atlantic 10 Conference Team.
• In all, La Salle returns 12 players, highlighted by five seniors while welcoming 11 newcomers for the 2019 season.

• The Seahawks will make the short trek down to Philadelphia to take on Big East challenger, the Villanova Wildcats.
