Loretto, PA – Despite leading both games early on, the Wagner College softball team dropped two Northeast Conference (NEC) games against Saint Francis U on Sunday afternoon in Western Pennsylvania.
The doubleheader was interrupted for multiple hours in the fourth inning of game one due to rain, as both games took more than seven hours combined to complete.
The Green and White lost game one by a score of 6-4, before dropping an 8-4 decision in the second game of the afternoon.
With the two losses, Wagner falls to 12-23 overall and 2-6 in conference play, while the Red Flash improves to 20-26 on the season.

The Seahawks took a 2-1 lead in the third inning, as an RBI single by junior
Hannah Lewis and an RBI double by freshman
Natalie Del Ponte gave Wagner the lead.
After a five-run third inning by the Red Flash, Wagner answered with an RBI single by sophomore
Alexis Silinonte in the sixth and a solo shot by junior
Amelia Van Orman in the top of the seventh, which cut into the deficit, but Saint Francis U was able to hang on for the 6-4 victory.

Jessica Carlucci each had two hits in the contest, as the Seahawks held a 9-6 advantage in hits throughout the game.
Freshman
Eve Harvey suffered the loss in the circle, while the versatile Van Orman also tossed 3.1 scoreless innings in relief.
Game 2 Recap: SFU 8, Wagner 4
Wagner once again used the third inning to take the lead in the second game of the afternoon. After back-to-back singles by Van Orman and Del Ponte, junior
Kaila Smith came to the plate and took full advantage of the opportunity.
Smith, who took sole possession of fourth place on the all-time home run list in Wagner history yesterday, connected on her second home run of the weekend and gave Wagner the 3-2 lead.
The Red Flash answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning and closed out the game for the 8-4 victory.

Kayla Hooks, senior
Ciera Luna, and Van Orman all saw action in the circle, with Luna suffering the losing decision.
As a team, Wagner combined for 10 hits, as Del Ponte, seniors
Karen Prihoda and
Lauren Serrato, along with junior
Zoe Bender all recorded multi-hit games.
Next up, Wagner will host Drexel on Thursday for a non-conference matchup starting at 2:00 pm.
