Staten Island, NY – The Wagner baseball team erupted for six runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning and held on to take the series finale from the defending Northeast Conference (NEC) champions, LIU Brooklyn, by a 6-4 count on Sunday afternoon at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
With the win, the Seahawks improve to 11-20 overall and 6-6 in league contests while the Blackbirds fall to 12-20 and 5-7 in conference play.

Shamus Connolly drove in two RBIs during the six-run second inning outburst while juniors
Tyler Sanfillippo and
Griffin Schneider added two hits and a run scored in lifting Wagner to victory.
Junior starter,
McCae Allen, went 5.1 innings in picking up his third win of the season, as he allowed three runs on four hits while walking six and striking out five.
Fellow classmate,
Justin Beyer, who earned a midweek victory over Rider, came on in relief and pitched 2.2 scoreless frames giving up one hit, a walk and recording three strikeouts.
Nick Robino came on in the ninth and picked up his fifth save of the season.
For LIU Brooklyn, Gregory Vaughn Jr. and Tim Bechtold each had two hits with Vaughn Jr., Brock Hallum, Andrew Smith and Colin Adams each adding one RBI apiece.
Jackson Svete went six innings in being tabbed with his second loss of the season, as he allowed six runs (one earned) in today's outing. Svete walked two and struck out four. Mike Kreiger hurled the final two innings for the Blackbirds, giving up two hits and striking out four batters.
Following a scoreless inning and a half, Wagner ignited a six-run bottom of the second inning. Schneider singled and moved up on a throwing error by Alex Briggs at short before sophomore catcher
Brandon Hall singled to right.
A walk to sophomore
Emil Matti loaded the bases for the Green & White. Facing a 0-1 count, Connolly squared up and laced a single back up-the-middle that scored both runners as Wagner went ahead 2-0. Senior
Joe Silvestrone reached on a fielder's choice and moved to second on a throwing error from Svete that score Matti for the third run of the inning.

Freddy Sabido flew out to right field that plated home Connolly for Wagner's fourth tally in the inning. Sanfillippo took Svete's 0-1 pitch down the right field line to bring in Silvestrone as the score grow to 5-0.
The final marker of the stanza came on a 2-1, RBI single off-the-bat of senior
Will Johnson that extended the lead to 6-0.
LIU crept back into the contest with two runs in the fourth on a sacrifice fly to right from Hallum and a RBI ground out from Smith. Following a scoreless fifth, the Blackbirds notched another run in the sixth, cutting the deficit to 6-3 as Adams lofted a sacrifice fly to right to bring home Hallum.
The visitors continued their comeback attempt by plating home a run on Vaughn's two-out RBI single off Robino that made it 6-4 but Robino was able to get Briggs to pop out to Connolly at second in securing the Seahawk win.
Wagner will hit the road for the next four games, starting with a 3:00 p.m road tilt at Saint Peter's on April 16. From there, conference play resumes for the Green & White, as they will renew their season series with Mount St. Mary's for three games, beginning on Thursday April 18.
