West Long Branch, NJ – The Wagner College men's tennis team was blanked by the Monmouth University Hawks, 4-0, on Wednesday.
With the setback, the Green & White fall to 5-9 overall while the Hawks improve to 13-1.
Monmouth picked up a pair of wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles play to take a 1-0 lead in the overall match.
Two-time NEC Player of the Week,
Dylan Walters, saw his three match win streak snapped, as he dropped a 6-4; 6-0 decision at No. 2 to Max Benaim. Senior
Eric Poland fell to Sergio Martinez, 6-3; 6-3 at No. 4.
Monmouth also earned a win at No. 1 to clinch the match.
Wagner will next be in action on Friday, April 12 as the Seahawks travel to New Haven, CT to tangle with the Sacred Heart University Pioneers.
