Staten Island, NY – Junior RF Griffin Schneider powered the Wagner offense with a career evening at the plate in support of three Seahawk hurlers, juniors Ryan Lauk and Justin Beyer along with sophomore Nick LePre, who combined to allow one run on four hits as Wagner earned a 9-1 victory over Rider on Wednesday evening at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark.

With the win, the Green & White improves to 10-18 on the year while the Broncs fall to 12-20.

Schneider, along with freshman catcher Johnny Kampes each had three hits on the evening with Schneider notching five of the eight RBIs for Wagner. Classmate Freddy Sabido drove in two RBIs while senior Will Johnson was credited with the other RBI. Senior Joe Silvestrone crossed the plate three times while fellow classmate Anthony Pecora, Sabido and Kampes each scored twice.

Lauk started tonight's contest, firing off three no-hit, scoreless frames while striking out two and walking one batter. Beyer came on in relief and lasted five innings in earning the victory, as he allowed one run on two hits while walking one and striking out five batters. LePre worked a scoreless ninth, surrendering just two hits in the five men he faced.

Alex Diamantis went 2-for-4 with the only run scored for the Broncs while Richie Tecco was credited with the RBI. Andrew Imperatore went four innings in suffering his third loss of the season.

The Seahawks got the scoring going in the bottom of the first as Schneider singled to center which plated home Silvestrone and Sabido as Wagner jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

Rider managed to cut the deficit in half, 2-1, in its half of the fifth on the RBI grounder to second off the bat of Tecco. Wagner opened the game up with a four-run frame, upping its lead to 6-1.

Kampes led off with a walk, followed by a single from Pecora, and both runners moving up on the wild pitch before coming into score on the bases clearing single from Sabido that made it 4-1. With one out, Schneider came through again with his fourth RBIs of the contest, singling to center that made it 6-1.

The Seahawks tacked on three more in the bottom of the eight that made it 9-1.  Kampes and Pecora had a pair of base hits before Silvestrone reached on a single to right. With the count at 0-1, Johnson sent one back to Jordan Silverman on the mound, which scored Kampes.

Rider went to the bullpen in the form of Zach Gakeler. Gakeler fell 2-0 to Schneider before the Minnetonka, MN native sent a grounder back to him for the second out but not before Pecora came across to score.  The final run came in when Silvestrone scored on a wild pitch.

Wagner will close out its four-game homestand this weekend as Northeast Conference (NEC) play resumes with the Seahawks hosting LIU Brooklyn, beginning on Friday, April 12, at 3:00 p.m.
