West Long Branch, NJ – Seton Hall scored three runs in the third inning but Wagner's starter, Eric Ligda, was able to keep the Pirates off the board before the Pirates put up seven runs in the eighth in posting a 10-0 win over Wagner on Saturday at the Monmouth University (MU) Baseball Field. The loss to Seton Hall leaves the Seahawks with a split on the day, as it came on the heels of Wagner's 13-4 victory over host Monmouth earlier in the day.

Wagner (6-13) was held to just four hits vs. the Pirates in the nightcap as senior Joe Silvestrone and sophomores Brandon Hall, Emil Matti and Mike Ruggiero recorded one base hit apiece. The Seahawks drew five walks in the second game of the day as senior Will Johnson drawing a pair of bases on ball. Ligda, who took the loss, went seven innings, yielding five earned on five hits while walking five and striking out six.

Seton Hall (5-12) tallied its runs on nine hits, as Christian Del Castillo led the way for the Pirates with three hits and drove in a team-high five RBIs. Tyler Shedler-McAvoy and Jerry Huntzinger added two hits. Ricky Devito tossed seven shutout frames in earning the win as he gave up three hits while walking three and striking out three.

Wagner had a chance in the top of the third to score the game's first runs as, with two outs, senior Anthony Pecora reached on a fielding error by the Hall's third baseman. He promptly stole second, which was followed by a Johnson walk, giving the visitors runners on first and second. Silvestrone sent a liner to the right side but it was snagged by Seton Hall's second baseman.

In the bottom of the inning, the Pirates got their first two men on as Steve Grober singled and Huntzinger drew a walk. Ligda got Connor Hood to pop out to third for the first out but the next batter, Del Castillo, connected on a three-run home run to right putting Seton Hall in front, 3-0.

The Seahawks put the first two men on in the top of the fifth as Matti singled up the middle and junior designated hitter before Dario Anderson was hit by a pitch. The Seahawks failed to take advantage, as Anderson was forced out at second before Johnson struck out swinging.

Seton Hall put the game away with its seven-run eighth in taking a 10-0 lead. The Pirates sent nine men to the plate in which they got five hits, with the big hit coming off the bat of Del Castillo, who doubled to left center that plated a pair of runs.

The Green & White had a chance to get on the board in the ninth. Junior Tyler Sanfillippo walked and Anderson was hit by another pitch with two outs before Ruggiero drew a walk that loaded the bases. Pecora got the count to 2-2 before Corey Sawyer was able to get Pecora swinging at strike three to conclude the contest.

Wagner closes out its trip to the Jersey Shore on Sunday afternoon as the Seahawks and Monmouth close out its short, two-game series at MU Baseball Field with a 1:00 p.m. start time.
