Philadelphia, PA – The Wagner College men's tennis dropped a 6-1 road decision at Temple on Friday morning at the Legacy Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 3-3 overall in dual matches this season while the Owls improve to 7-6.
Temple picked up a win at No. 1 doubles by a 6-1 count. With No. 2 doubles going unfinished at 6-6, it came down to No. 3 doubles to determine which squad would get the first point. The Seahawk duo of senior Ilya Kneepelhout and junior
Hans Ohrner put forth a valiant effort but were edged by the pairing of Francisco Bohorquez and Juan Araoz, 7-5, as Temple took a 1-0 lead in the match.
In singles action, the Owls secured wins at No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 to take the match. The lone victory for Wagner came at No. 2 as junior
Dylan Walters outlasted Paolo Cucalon, 6-4, 7-6 (7) in earning his 34th career singles victory and ninth of the season.
The Seahawks are back in action tomorrow as they square off against La Salle University in Annapolis, MD on the campus of the US Naval Academy.
