Box Score

Staten Island, NY –
Sophomore midfielders Madeline Seims and Erin Kerstetter combined for five goals and two assists, while redshirt senior goalie Kelsey Fee came up with 13 saves, in leading the Wagner women's lacrosse team to its fifth straight victory, a 10-5 win over Manhattan at wind-swept Hameline Field on Saturday.

Seims finished the day with a hat trick for the Seahawks, to go with a team-high four draw controls, Kerstetter added two goals, two assists, and two draw controls, while junior attack Stephanie Falcone added two goals as well.

Rounding out the Wagner scoring was Kirsten Monte. For the senior, this marked her first career goal and it came on a great individual effort in the second half, as the defender caused a turnover near midfield and collected the ground ball, before sprinting ahead of the field and burying the shot.

In a battle between two teams who entered today's play with matching 5-2 records, the Seahawks improve to 6-2 on the season while the Jaspers fall to 5-3.
Two first-half goals by Seims helped Wagner jump put to a 4-2 halftime lead. Manhattan's Grace Lipponer sank an unassisted goal just 45 seconds into the second half to make it a one-score game at 4-3, but this was as close as the Jaspers would get, as the Seahawks unleashed a barrage of six straight building a 10-3 lead and never looked back.

The 6-0 scoring run began with consecutive free position goals from Kerstetter and Falcone which made it 6-3.  Monte's brilliant solo effort gave the Seahawks a 7-3 lead with 21:28 left, and the surge continued with unanswered goals by Falcone, Kerstetter and Seims, the latter two coming on free positions, as the Seahawks pulled away.

The Jaspers struck for a pair of goals in the game's final 2:42 to fashion the final score at 10-5. Wagner, which was just 1-of-9 on free position shots in Wednesday's 10-9 win at Monmouth, was a red-hot 5-of-7 on free positions this afternoon.

Caitline Murphy and Molly Fitzpatrick paces Manhattan with two goals apiece while goalie Nikki Prestiano recorded four saves.

The Green & White held a 20-15 edge in ground balls while the Jaspers led in both shots (28-23) and draw controls (11-6), with Emma Kaishian leading the way for the Jaspers with eight DCs.

The Seahawks will look to make it six in a row next time out when they host Presbyterian College on Sunday, March 14 in a noon start at Hameline Field.
